A mission is a particular word, it can be a formal word but a mission statement in my case is asking myself why I blog and other questions, to figure out my “mission” in blogging.
I will answer these below in a question-and-answer format for the first half of this blog. The second half will be my mission statement itself. Let’s begin!
Why do I blog?
I enjoy blogging for many reasons. One is that I am passionate about language learning & teaching and want to inspire others to do the same. One effective way of sharing this is to create a blog.
Another reason I blog is to create an effective way of improving my writing skills in English and other languages such as Chinese. The best way to improve your writing skills is to have opportunities to write more and having a blog is an effective way of doing this.
However, the most important thing for me is to have fun blogging. I’m finding this is coming to fruition.
What topics will I cover? Where am I the most knowledgeable?
Overall this blog will cover many different topics such as language learning, productivity, language teaching and much more. Overall though I want an outlet to express my ideas on language learning and other topics of interest.
I think I’m the most knowledgeable in language learning and teaching English as a second/foreign language as I have ample experience learning 3 languages as well and I have done a 120-hour certification.
This means I have all the tools and are equipped to run such a blog.
What sort of things and ideas do I enjoy the most?
I like and entertain the idea of speaking from day 1. As well as other theories in the language learning space such as comprehensible input. All these I find very interesting.
As well as this, I enjoy the idea of being able to customise and do up parts of the blog by myself and growing and developing over time. That is why I enjoy doing blogging courses and other courses on different topics to progress my knowledge.
Overall, even though I like to be adventurous I also enjoy staying within my comfort zone.
Which bloggers do I admire and why?
There are quite a few blogs in this space which I enjoy such as the I Will Teach You Language blog and the Fluent in Three Months blog. These blogs have taken language learning to the next level and introduced ideas such as the 3-month boot camp or learning through stories.
I admire them because they’re not just a blog anymore, but a fully functioning business with ideas to help their language learners.
I think that overall, they’re great blogs that help a lot of people learn languages and I hope my blog can do the same as well.
Will my writing be personable?
Yes, I think so, I think the best way of sharing knowledge about a topic is to have fun whilst learning, so I feel that if I share myself more that people can connect more and in turn learn more about how to learn languages.
My mission statement:
Overall, I feel that my mission statement is to do as follows:
“My blog will help those who want to learn more about how to learn a foreign language. It will do this through entertaining & educational blog posts to educate the public on how this is possible. It is a global blog for a global audience, to give back and to show my genuine self”.
Conclusion:
Overall, I feel that blogging is great, and I still have an adventure ahead of me. What about you? What aspects of my blog do you enjoy reading? Have you ever tried doing a blog yourself?
Let me know in the comments below. Thank you.
